[jira] [Commented] (IMPALA-7427) Write Impala version information
to writer.model.name footer field of Parquet

Zoltán Borók-Nagy commented on IMPALA-7427:

Impala already writes the version information in the "created_by" field. Adding the same information under "writer.model.name" seems a bit redundant to me.
This property is probably more useful for Hive, where the creator is Parquet-MR and they need to provide extra information about the Hive version.
Do you still think it's useful to fill "writer.model.name" for Impala as well?

> PARQUET-352 added support for the "writer.model.name" property in the Parquet metadata to identify the object model (application) that wrote the file.
