Couldn't this be filter out?
I guess that there are already some rules, but there are probably not enought. I regularily still see some of those files on our mailing list.
Here is some possible tips I see :
- The mail subject/content contains "out of office", "auto-reply", "automatic reply", some dates, "for urgent matters", "contact". They are always replies. It is usually short mails (less than 10 lines).

Do we allready use the vbounce ruleset on hermes ? I think this should work for this purposes. At least it seems so after lookin at the ruleset

http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/VBounceRuleset
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/spamassassin/rules/trunk/sandbox/jm/20_vbounce.cf?revision=482200&pathrev=482207

Maybe we could write a small qpsmtpd plugin too

WDYT ?

So this is running on athena too.

If you can provide me an entire mail that you think should be dropped (including headers) attach it to this jira and I can test it manually with spamc to check the scoring.

Firstly, spamd runs on the MXs not on hermes

But, nike has the vbounce rules loaded.

# VBounce - anti-bounce-message rules, see rules/20_vbounce.cf
#
loadplugin Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::VBounce
