[m2] trunk, r231316 clean:clean does not recurse by default

Is this expected?

It seems that the old behavior can be achieved using m2 -r clean:clean.

Perhaps a new lifecycle will be added so that one can just do m2 clean?

Kind Regards,
John Fallows.

It seems to work for me with my current version of trunk which I updated
some time earlier today.

If it indeed m2 doesn't clean all sub-projects if you have packaging="pom"
and a set of <modules> in your pom it's a bug. It is supposed to clean the
same project as it's building and if you are really sure that it's not
please file a bug here[1], preferably with a set of pom.xml files to show
the problem as it seems to work at least some cases.

Thanks Trygve, but I am seeing a change in behavior for a "pom"
packaged top level project with modules.

There is no recursion of the "clean:clean" goal for this case on the
trunk, which is a change in behavior from the last release.

For non-POM projects (packaging == "pom") this is the default and has
always been link that. For project with packaging="pom" it will execute
the clean:clean goal in all project listed inside the <modules> section of
the POM.

That's correct.

I think that how it is today will suffice.

 $ m2 install

will install all projects in the <modules> section and

 $ m2 clean:clean

will likewise clean the same set of projects.
