Removal of temporary stored attachments

Is there a simple mechanism to turn off the automatic removal of
temporarily stored attachments, so that I can delete it myself when I'm
finished with it?

At the moment it gets deleted before I get a chance to move it to its
final resting place.

The problem only occurs with large attachments (> 2Gb) as far as I've
been able to see.

I'm using axis 1.2 beta 3, Tomcat 5.0.28 and Fedora core 1
