problems receiving mail

Hello,
I am new to james, and I am having one strange problem involving
receiving mail.
I have 2 accounts: user1 and user2.
I can send mail with both accounts with no problems.
I can also receive mail for user1 with no problems.
When I attempt to receive mail for user2 using microsoft outlook, I get
the following error:

Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to
the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server
responded: +OK Message follows'

I am not sure what the problem is, and I cannot find anything useful in
the james log files.
I tried different email clients with no success.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a question about this problem: is this a kind of incompatibility
beetwen James and Norton, or not?

Thanks.
Davide.

Mike,

If you go to Options and Internet E-mail, you should get an E-mail
Scanning pane, and there is a "Protect Against Timeouts" checkbox. Did
you try that?

Interesting ... you have a 5MB message in the mailbox. Not that such a
large message should cause a problem, it is worth noting.

Sometimes Outlook just does that, and requires a reboot. I've seen it
myself. Check google, searching for just "0x800CCC0F", and you'll find
lots of discussion. It does not help to just restart the mail client.
Sometimes it requires rebooting Windows.

You can go into SAR-INF/environment.xml, and change the pop3server entry
from INFO to DEBUG to see the dialog between Outlook and James.

Hello,
I am new to james, and I am having one strange problem involving
receiving mail. I have 2 accounts: user1 and user2. I can send mail with
both accounts with no problems. I can also receive mail for user1 with
no problems. When I attempt to receive mail for user2 using microsoft
outlook, I get the following error:

Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to
the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server
responded: +OK Message follows'

I am not sure what the problem is, and I cannot find anything useful in
the james log files. I tried different email clients with no success.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

-Mike

Mike,

Oh? That's a good tip to know! Which anti-virus software? I'd like to
get that into the documentation for troubleshooting.

Interesting ... you have a 5MB message in the mailbox. Not that such a
large message should cause a problem, it is worth noting.

What type of mailbox? JDBC or file? Any exceptions turning up in any
of the other logs?

Interesting ... you have a 5MB message in the mailbox. Not that such a
large message should cause a problem, it is worth noting.

What type of mailbox? JDBC or file? Any exceptions turning up in any
of the other logs?

Thanks for the quick response Noel.
I have tried both outlook and eudora, and I get similar results. The
debug log file shows the below messages for both programs. A windows
reboot did not solve the problem. Any idea what is happening?

Sometimes Outlook just does that, and requires a reboot. I've seen it
myself. Check google, searching for just "0x800CCC0F", and you'll find
lots of discussion. It does not help to just restart the mail client.
Sometimes it requires rebooting Windows.

You can go into SAR-INF/environment.xml, and change the pop3server entry
from INFO to DEBUG to see the dialog between Outlook and James.

Subject: problems receiving mail

Hello,
I am new to james, and I am having one strange problem involving
receiving mail.

Thanks.

-Mike
