[jira] [Created] (HIVE-6713) Add HiveServer2 regression tests to
track performance over time
George Chow created HIVE-6713:
---------------------------------
Summary: Add HiveServer2 regression tests to track performance over time
Key: HIVE-6713
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-6713
Project: Hive
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: HiveServer2
Environment: Across ODBC client env: Windows, Linux, OS X
Reporter: George Chow
>From the experience of HIVE-3746, it makes good sense to find a way to quantify and track HiveServer2's performance.
Note that the focus here is not on query performance which is being actively addressed by a broad range of activities (Stinger etc). Rather, the scope is focused solely on the behavior and performance of Hive's Thrift IDL definition and Thrift's implementation of this.
There are at least two important entry points to Hive over Thrift: ODBC and JDBC.
