PERL tests hang at test #5.

Sometime recently the trunk PERL tests started hanging at test #5.

I'm seeing this on both RHEL3 and RHEL4 (haven't tested anything else 
yet).

On the 1.3.x branch it works fine.

Has anyone else seen this?
