[VOTE] Retire Maven Stage & Maven Verifier Plugins
Hi,
It's been over 10 years since these plugins were last released. They
had limited features and never gained any adoption.
https://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-stage-plugin/
https://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-verifier-plugin/
Therefore, I propose deprecating these plugins without releasing
further versions.
If this vote is successful I will not_make the final release of the plugins.
The source code repository will get archived, meaning it's read only
in the future.
The process for retiring a plugin is described here:
https://maven.apache.org/developers/retirement-plan-plugins.html
The vote is open for 72 hours.

Hi,
Yes it's about to follow all updates needed to RETIRE but no plans to have
one more release to Maven Central.
All pages will be updated ofc.

in combination with linking to the retirement process. Retirement includes a last release with "RETIRED" addition and updating readme etc, while just "deprecating without releasing further versions" does not. I hope it's the first one, following the retirement process to show clear on GH and Maven central that those plugins are retired.

You should be able to replace the verifier plugin with
maven-enforcer-plugin [0] and 'requireFilesExist' rule [1].

+1 for https://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-stage-plugin/
It is more a repository backend and/or pipeline task
-1 for https://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-verifier-plugin/
I used it in past projects. It was very helpful to failed build due to
missing generated file(s)
