the domain icloud.com.invalid couldn't be found. Check for typos or 
unnecessary spaces and try again.

The response was:

DNS Error: 6120806 DNS type 'mx' lookup of icloud.com.invalid responded 
with code NXDOMAIN Domain name not found: icloud.com.invalid

Thanks - I had wondered why some domains were altered. I simply forget 
to look at the reply address sometimes - perhaps senility is approaching!

To avoid issues with some anti-spam filters, the lists are configured to 
automatically add .invalid to some problematic domains. Just remove 
.invalid to reach the original sender.

The rule has been enforced for a few years now. Read 
https://blogs.apache.org/infra/entry/dmarc_filtering_on_lists_that for 
context.
