   Perhaps an **API documentation bug**, [map.seriesLayoutBy](https://echarts.apache.org/en/option.html#series-map.seriesLayoutBy) should not exist, IMHO.
   Option _seriesLayoutBy_ is for cartesian coordinate system charts ([official example](https://echarts.apache.org/examples/en/editor.html?c=dataset-series-layout-by)), not for maps.
   The incompatibility was anticipated, which is why you are receiving the error.
