Well, other than the obvious answer, of stepping back and considering
re-designing your existing API to not be so literal-minded... 8-)

If you know the Result is a DOMResult, you could always just getNode()
and then pass that as a DOMSource to the next transform.  Otherwise the
various XMLFilter or SAX streams from one transformer to the next are
the best way to do this kind of thing.

Yes, the pipeDocument extension is Xalan-specific.

But in general, a Result is not meant to be a Source.  That's why
they're named different things.  8->  Sorry for not having more ideas.
