[DISCUSS] Discuss Apache Flex 4.12.1 RC2

This is the discussion thread.

If you are going to use the Installer to test the binaries, please use the
Installer 3.0 RC at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/flex/installer/3.0/rc7/binaries/

The only changes are in README and RELEASE_NOTES and one minor asdoc fix.

Thanks,
-Alex

When do you intend to make the announcement on 4.12.1, so you I can have the wiki page ready ?

(copied from wrong VOTE thread):

One minor issue in the release notes:
FLEX-33948 Add touch behaviour to spark DropDownList classes => the ticket is still open. implementation attempts were not satisfactory, and have not been committed.

Also, I find that the release notes do not describe accurately enough what's in the release (eg. extended queries), and going to JIRA to understand what was done isn't better.
I suggest that we add a page (either in the web site or in the wiki) to describe in detail the various features.
What do you think?

Possibly.

No didn't think it was a blocker - just an inconvenience when trying to make a release.

Digging further, Ant's manual says that permissions are not copied with
the copy task, but I don't see any changes to the build.xml since 4.11
that would affect the use of the copy task. Is it possible that between
4.11 and 4.12 we switched from OSX Java 6 to Java 7 and that caused this
problem?

IMO, this is not a blocker since folks have not noticed this with 4.12.

I'm seeing this same issue with 4.12.0, but not with 4.11.0, do you see
the same?

Hi,

I'm currently getting "ant -Dbuild.number=20140428 -Dbuild.noprompt= release" / "ant release" failing.

compilemustellaswc:

BUILD FAILED
/Users/justinmclean/Downloads/ApacheFlexSDK4.12.1RC2/apache-flex-sdk-4.12.1-src/build.xml:1440: The following error occurred while executing this line:
/Users/justinmclean/Downloads/ApacheFlexSDK4.12.1RC2/apache-flex-sdk-4.12.1-src/mustella/build.xml:1785: The following error occurred while executing this line:
/Users/justinmclean/Downloads/ApacheFlexSDK4.12.1RC2/apache-flex-sdk-4.12.1-src/mustella/build.xml:1793: Execute failed: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "/Users/justinmclean/Downloads/ApacheFlexSDK4.12.1RC2/apache-flex-sdk-4.12.1-src/mustella/../bin/compc" (in directory "/Users/justinmclean/Downloads/ApacheFlexSDK4.12.1RC2/apache-flex-sdk-4.12.1-src/mustella"): error=13, Permission denied

Seems an obvious issue (ie compc not being executable) and probably easily fixed, but also seems related to the issue I pointed out with RC1. Has something changed since 4.12 permission wise?

Thanks,
Justin

In addition to the README/RELEASE_NOTE change, there is one asdoc change.
Didn't my original [DISCUSS] post include mention of that?

Hi,

Obviously link in vote thread should be:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/flex/sdk/4.12.1/rc2/

Not:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/flex/sdk/4.12.1/rc1/

What the list to changes between the two RCs? Just changes to the README and RELEASE_NOTE or have there been build/code changes?

Thanks,
Justin
