[jira] [Created] (AMBARI-24148) Option to update the repo name in
Ambari
amarnath reddy pappu created AMBARI-24148:
---------------------------------------------
Summary: Option to update the repo name in Ambari
Key: AMBARI-24148
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-24148
Project: Ambari
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: ambari-server
Reporter: amarnath reddy pappu
For larger clusters some customers were pre installing the binaries before adding the host to cluster.
Before 2.6.x – Able to do this smoothly and Ambari was able to recognize the binaries and proceed.
Post 2.6.x – Ambari could not able to recognize the installed binaries If the repo names are different. Work around to this is , during the pre-install stage use the same repo name what Ambari uses. That way there won’t be any issues during the host add. But customer is not happy with this approach as he had to find out the repo name before pre-install.
There should be some option/way to tell Ambari to use specific repo name while installing.
