Required Permission to run as daemon

Hello

I've managed to run ActiveMQ as daemon under the 'nobody' account on one
linux box but can't get it to run under the same account on another machine
(no SELinux active). Actually I did not manage to get it to start under
anything but root. What permissions are required? Am I missing something?
