Jason van Zyl commented on MNG-2067:
------------------------------------

Exact error reporting has been started in 3.x and is extensible.

> Provide (more) details to generic error outputs

> Key: MNG-2067
> URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2067
> Project: Maven 2 & 3
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Command Line
> Affects Versions: 2.0.2
> Environment: Linux, JDK 1.5
> Reporter: Jimisola Laursen
> Priority: Trivial

> I have noticed several places where maven could provide provide more informaton to error outputs, e.g mvn compile outputs:
> "Validation Messages:
> [0] For dependency Dependency {groupId=x.y.lf, artifactId=lf-test, version=0.1, type=jar}: system-scoped dependency must specify an absolute path systemPath."
> Request: output the path that was specific (with expanded properties).
> This issue is not specific to the example above. If people have more examples please add them as comment to this issue.
> While on it, I can't seem to find a list of available/provided properties for Maven 2.x anywhere? Is there one?
> E.g. what is the absolute path to the pom.xml file / source directory / target directory / etc?
