[Graph] moving to git

Hello All,

I wanted to fetch opinion about moving commons-graph to git and possibly
creation of github mirror.

1. Moving to git will be better for code management and change /
contribution history perspective.

2. Github will be better to attract more contributors and easy to review
codes via PR, not sure if Apache gitbox have same capabilities ?

Regards,
Amey Jadiye

Hi All,

Can we get more opinions on this? what PMC thinks on this ? I wish to get
commons-graph on git at least. okey with full sandbox to git if it's easy
with other operational aspects.

Amey Jadiye

Moving full sandbox sounds like moving all proper to git which was never
happened, we migrated project by project. at this point I just care about
moving commons-graph to git. also if we move full sandbox to git and
tomorrow if we migrate commons-graph to proper and to its own repository,
will the git commit history for only graph be separately migrated since
sandbox is root repository ?

I **think** projects using Apache gitbox can be/are hosted/mirrored on GitHub.

As for moving to git, I'm +1 in principle. But I don't know if we create git repositories under github.com/apache for projects in the sandbox. Maybe one option here would be moving the sandbox over to git instead? Along with all the components there?

Sorry if not very helpful.

Just make sure to have enough reviews for reviewing prs.
IMO after put it to github you might receive far more prs than before.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/commons/MovingToGit

But seems outdated (clicking on "asf-authorization-template"
results in "404 Not Found")...

Also some of the pages contain links that refer to
    cwiki-test.apache.org
instead of
    cwiki.apache.org

Hi.

I recall that we should move the SVN repository to there:
     https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/_moved_to_git/

Does someone remember how to do it?

Thanks,
Gilles
