Video Uploaded Not Playing in OM 3.1.5

Dear OpenMeetings Users,

We are seeing an error (deleted image) when we tried to play an MP4 and FLV
video on whiteboard. We would appreciate any pointers to resolve this. All
other features, including users' audio and video. are working fine, thereby
implying that video / audio dependencies have been properly installed.

OM version 3.1.5

CentOS 7.2 (1511)

The logs suggest that to play the video, it is looking for an jpg image
file. These videos played fine in OM 3.1.2. Perhaps DownloadHandler,
OmFileHelper and UploadWindowExplorer classes are not synchronized. We have
not done any customization to any of these files.

Thank you.

Re: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by Maxim Solodovnik <so...@gmail.com>.
Hello Daniel,

You can get nightly build (both binary and source) from our build server:
https://builds.apache.org/view/M-R/view/OpenMeetings/job/Openmeetings%203.2.x/
Not sure why tests are failing for you (works OK both locally and on build
server)
After successful build you can get artifacts from
openmeetings-server/target folder

to update you can
0) backup everything (just in case)
1) use import/export
2) just change the binaries (if you absolutely sure what you are doing) :))

RE: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by "Coscend@OM" <OM...@Coscend.com>.
Hello Dan,

Hope I understood your question correctly.

Your installation file is: <Your_compilation_directory>/openmeetings-server/target/apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

Copy this file to your installation directory.

Unarchive: tar apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

See Alvaro’s tutorials (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/Tutorials+for+installing+OpenMeetings+and+Tools)

Configure: config.xml, persistence.xml, red5.properties, your logo,

Place mysql-java connector 5.1.39 in <Your_installation_drectory>/$RED5_HOME/webapps/$OM_CONTEXT/WEB-INF/lib

Start your rdbms

If it is new database, create it.

If importing your previous OpenMeetings database. ./admin.sh use --drop db-name (https://openmeetings.apache.org/Upgrade.html )

Start ./red5.sh

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Hemant K. Sabat

Yes its builds now.

The question I have now is how do I use the results to replace my existing OM install ?

I have these results from the build :

 # ls
CHANGELOG NOTICE openmeetings-db openmeetings-install openmeetings-server openmeetings-util openmeetings-webservice README target
LICENSE openmeetings-core openmeetings-flash openmeetings-screenshare openmeetings-service openmeetings-web pom.xml src

Thanks,

Dan

Hello Dan,

For nightly build, you might want to add the following to your maven install command. This builds all modules without running tests.

-P allModules -DskipTests=true

You might want to avoid a similar command -Dmaven.test.skip=true, which will skip test compilation, thereby giving compilation errors.

Thank you.

After trying to build I get an error.

Maybe this is because it is the nightly build? What I would really like is branch 3.2.2 as that fixes 2 issues am I am most concerned about.

How can I build 3.2.2 ?

Thanks,

Dan

Re: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by Maxim Solodovnik <so...@gmail.com>.
Hello Hemant,

I'm using Eclipse for coding only (debugging, code completion etc.)
Full/partial builds are only being done by command line Maven on Ubuntu

This is why I wonder why tests can fail in command line ...

RE: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by "Coscend@OM" <OM...@Coscend.com>.
Hello Maxim,

“Not sure why tests are failing for you (works OK both locally and on build server)”

Here is a vector to identify the cause and save your time for new code development. This is a conjecture:

You are probably compiling and building from the nightly build in your full-fledged development environment of Eclipse / Tortoise integrated with Maven plugin m2e and JDK. Some users compile the nightly build in Linux / Windows CLI outside of Eclipse/Tortoise environment by using a standalone Maven and JDK.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Hello Dan,

Hope I understood your question correctly.

Your installation file is: <Your_compilation_directory>/openmeetings-server/target/apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

Copy this file to your installation directory.

Unarchive: tar apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

See Alvaro’s tutorials (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/Tutorials+for+installing+OpenMeetings+and+Tools)

Configure: config.xml, persistence.xml, red5.properties, your logo,

Place mysql-java connector 5.1.39 in <Your_installation_drectory>/$RED5_HOME/webapps/$OM_CONTEXT/WEB-INF/lib

Start your rdbms

If it is new database, create it.

If importing your previous OpenMeetings database. ./admin.sh use --drop db-name (https://openmeetings.apache.org/Upgrade.html )

Start ./red5.sh

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Hemant K. Sabat

Hello Daniel,

You can get nightly build (both binary and source) from our build server: https://builds.apache.org/view/M-R/view/OpenMeetings/job/Openmeetings%203.2.x/

Not sure why tests are failing for you (works OK both locally and on build server)

After successful build you can get artifacts from openmeetings-server/target folder

to update you can

0) backup everything (just in case)

1) use import/export

2) just change the binaries (if you absolutely sure what you are doing) :))

Thanks,

Dan

Hello Dan,

Hope I understood your question correctly.

Your installation file is: <Your_compilation_directory>/openmeetings-server/target/apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

Copy this file to your installation directory.

Unarchive: tar apache-openmeetings-3.2.X.tar

See Alvaro’s tutorials (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/Tutorials+for+installing+OpenMeetings+and+Tools)

Configure: config.xml, persistence.xml, red5.properties, your logo,

Place mysql-java connector 5.1.39 in <Your_installation_drectory>/$RED5_HOME/webapps/$OM_CONTEXT/WEB-INF/lib

Start your rdbms

If it is new database, create it.

If importing your previous OpenMeetings database. ./admin.sh use --drop db-name (https://openmeetings.apache.org/Upgrade.html )

Start ./red5.sh

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Yes its builds now.

The question I have now is how do I use the results to replace my existing OM install ?

I have these results from the build :

 # ls
CHANGELOG NOTICE openmeetings-db openmeetings-install openmeetings-server openmeetings-util openmeetings-webservice README target
LICENSE openmeetings-core openmeetings-flash openmeetings-screenshare openmeetings-service openmeetings-web pom.xml src

Maybe this is because it is the nightly build? What I would really like is branch 3.2.2 as that fixes 2 issues am I am most concerned about.

How can I build 3.2.2 ?

RE: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by "Coscend@OM" <OM...@Coscend.com>.
Hello Dan,

For nightly build, you might want to add the following to your maven install command. This builds all modules without running tests.

-P allModules -DskipTests=true

You might want to avoid a similar command -Dmaven.test.skip=true, which will skip test compilation, thereby giving compilation errors.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Re: Apache Maven build failure when issuing mvn clean install -P allModules

Posted by Daniel Baker <in...@collisiondetection.biz>.
There's another step . You have to cd into /trunk.

Get the source:

svn checkout https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openmeetings/application/trunk/

*
*

*Change into correct directory :**
*

*cd /trunk*

*
*

Run the command:

mvn clean install -P allModules

http://openmeetings.apache.org/BuildInstructions.html

Thanks,

Dan

I have also tried the command in the parent directory
*/opt/**apache-maven-3.3.9

*
I followed the
link**http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/MAVEN/MissingProjectException

Anybody else experienced this and how can I resolve this problem ?

It works on your demo server for me too but not my own server.

My server:
Name xxxx
Version 3.2.0
Revision 1782178
Build date 2017/02/08 14:1

I uploaded a docx and drew lines on various pages but it is not
removed using the remove from one slide only tool.

Not sure why.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Maxim,

I tried this with a .ppt and the steps do not clear the drawing from
one slide. It looks to be broken.

Thanks,

Hello Daniel,

Clear objects on current slide works as follows:
1) you are sharing office document
2) then you can put some drawing/marks on different pages of document
3) later you can clean only 1 slide/page, and leave all other marks as is
please let me know if this feature is broken

Can not clear object using "clear objects in current slide"

Posted by Daniel Baker <in...@collisiondetection.biz>.
Hi,

I just noticed that it is not possible to clear object on the whiteboard
using the "clear objects in current slide" tool. Reproducible on your
demo server.

Thanks,

Re: Clustering Slave / Master user delegation algorithm

Posted by Maxim Solodovnik <so...@gmail.com>.
Hello Daniel,

currently the logic is simple:
we are balancing room count on nodes: (all nodes will contain ~equal
number of rooms)
more complex logic can be implemented.

The whole mechanism should be re-invented after next major release
(some code should be clustered using tomcat cluster mechanism)

Clustering Slave / Master user delegation algorithm

Posted by Daniel Baker <in...@collisiondetection.biz>.
Hi,

I was wondering what is the logic of the slave master clustering
algorithm. Seems based on how many users and how many rooms determines
where users are logged in ?

Can we send users to a particular node based on other factors, such user
location , bandwidth , jitter etc?

Thanks,

Dan.

RE: Video Uploaded Not Playing in OM 3.1.5

Posted by "Coscend@OM" <OM...@Coscend.com>.
Dear Maxim,

Thank you for the explanation of the cause of the error. We also appreciate your time constraints.

Would it be possible to point us to the changed code for MP4 enablement / reconversion in 3.2.1? This will help us backport the MP4 enablement to 3.1.5, until 3.2.x is production-grade, i.e., with fewer errors.

Thank you.

Hello Hemant,

jpg file is required to display static "cover" image (while playing is not started) I saw no issues with flv files
MP4 files were broken (they were stored "as is" without re-conversion, unfortunately there are too many _different_ mp4 settings and only some of them are acceptable) so I have added re-conversion for mp4 files to 3.2.1

We have decided to concentrate on 3.2.x branch I have no fre time to support 2 branches :((

Re: Video Uploaded Not Playing in OM 3.1.5

Posted by Maxim Solodovnik <so...@gmail.com>.
Hello Hemant,

jpg file is required to display static "cover" image (while playing is
not started)
I saw no issues with flv files
MP4 files were broken (they were stored "as is" without re-conversion,
unfortunately there are too many _different_ mp4 settings and only
some of them are acceptable)
so I have added re-conversion for mp4 files to 3.2.1

We have decided to concentrate on 3.2.x branch
I have no fre time to support 2 branches :((
