User account integration with OpenLDAP, or MS AD?

Hello -

I'm writing to inquire about using jetspeed 2 to create accounts in AD, 
OpenLDAP, or Sun's LDAP.  Has anyone in the development group seen this 
done previously?

If this has not been done, are there any known technical issues that 
would prevent decoupling user account creation from the Database backend 
and using an LDAP backend?

Thank you in advance for any information that you can share on this subject.
