formatting a rtf file

Dear All

I am using velocity template engine to generate summary files. I want to generate a file that would look more like log file generated by SQL Loader. I have looked at the user manual forsome formatting techniques that may be available but fount none. 
Basically what I want to know is if it can be done and if yes than how.
