Overriding the theme declared in the psml

The standard themes generate content with menus and logos that are
very nice. The simple theme on the other hand renders only the
portlets and their decorators without the menus.

What would one do to provide access to all pages of the portal either
with the logos and menus or without? Is there a way to specify the
theme using a url parameter or by setting a session attribute, or a
cookie? In other words is there a way to override the psml theme with
another one?
