DO NOT REPLY [Bug 49499] New: dc:date may not be embedded in a
rdf:Seq
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49499
Summary: dc:date may not be embedded in a rdf:Seq
Product: XMLGraphicsCommons
Version: Trunk
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: XMP
AssignedTo: general@xmlgraphics.apache.org
ReportedBy: jeremias@apache.org
Currently, if there's only one dc:date, it is not written out as part of an
rdfSeq. Various such examples can be found on the net. However, the recent XMP
spec (from 2008) is now very explicit about that so the current behaviour needs
to be changed. The old spec from September 2005 which our current code was
built on was not.

--- Comment #4 from Diego Wong <di...@web.de> ---
Hi,
it seems like not only dc:date but also dc:title have the wrong value types. I
have created a PDF/A-1b using Apache FOP and according to an free online xmp
validator
(http://www.pdflib.com/knowledge-base/xmp-metadata/free-xmp-validator/), the
dc:title should be of type rdf:Alt. The XMP specification I attached in the
previous post confirms the error message of the xmp validator on page 27. An
example of a correct dc:title representation can be found on page 23.
Is this related to this bug report, or should I file a new bug report?

Hi,
I have attached the XMP specification from Adobe (ISO 16684-1:2011(E)). The
table 4 in section 8.3, on page 25, lists the properties of the Dublin Core
namespace as well as their types. In this table, dc:date is listed as an
ordered array (e.g. rdf:seq) of Date.
Subsubsection 7.9.3.3, on page 20, states that the equivalent representation of
dc:date as a rdf:description shall not be used in XMP.
I hope this helps.
Best regards

where should dc:date be placed? could you provide a link to the relevant XMP
spec(s)?
