[jira] Created: (PIVOT-546) Add a context argument to Bindable#initialize()

Add a context argument to Bindable#initialize()
-----------------------------------------------

                 Key: PIVOT-546
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIVOT-546
             Project: Pivot
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: core-beans
            Reporter: Greg Brown
             Fix For: 2.0

This value would be a Dictionary<String, Object> that would allow the caller to access the serializer's namespace. This will allow untrusted applications to take advantage of Bindable without needing to use the BXML annotation.

[jira] Commented: (PIVOT-546) Add a context argument to Bindable#initialize()

Greg Brown commented on PIVOT-546:
----------------------------------

It is not currently immutable - while I can't think of a strong use case for modifying the context during initialize(), I also can't think of a strong reason to prevent a caller from doing so.

"Untrusted" refers to JVM security. An untrusted applet is one that runs in the sandbox and does not have local system privileges.

Appddevvv commented on PIVOT-546:
---------------------------------

Does this imply the ability to put/remove objects into that namespace or would it be immutable? Also, is untrusted referring to security or just "external to the client's code"? If the caller is creating the serializer to begin with, don't they already have access to the namespace because they have the serializer object?

    Description:
Add arguments to Bindable#initialize() to provide the caller access to the serializer's namespace, resources, and location. This will allow untrusted applications to take advantage of Bindable without needing to use the BXML annotation, among other things.
