Unicode and corresponding font file

Hi,
When we put unicode chars in the index.xml we do not mention any font
file but get the display correctly on the screen (for ex, russian and
english mixed).

To get the same effect in the pdf file generated I would like to inform
the FOP pipeline the font being used but couldnt locate which is the font
being used by default be forrest.

I would like to know which is the default font file that is being used to
render the unicode and where is this font file located?
