Merging 10Gb to /trunk

Hi all,

In contrast to my initial expectation, the changes
on the 10Gb branch went smoothly. The code is
also much cleaner and better integrated than my
original prototype. Lots of the limitations that came
with it could be eliminated as well.

Therefore, I decided to merge the "internal" changes
to /trunk and after a few tweaks they now pass all
tests (barring BSD where tests are still ongoing).

What is left on the branch are the zero-copy and
the delayed-abortion-check options / features.
Both must be explicitly activated by the server
admin should not effect existing behavior while
being disabled.

If there are no strong objections, I would like to
merge that remainder on Saturday and close the
branch. That way, there will be time for people
to play around with the new option and if they find
severe issues with it, we can e.g. simply remove
it from the UI for 1.8.
