What does sync do about files not in the fileset?

Summary: What does sync do about files not in the fileset?
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.6.1
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Documentation
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: stoledo@tau.ac.il

The documentation for the sync task should explicitly say what does the sync do
about files in the source directory but which are excluded from the fileset. Do
they get deleted from the target if they exist there, or are they simply left
alone, not participating in the sync operation?
