HELP: How Array-,Base64-,Vector-,ParameterSerializer work

Can somebody explain in one or two sentences how the
- ArraySerializer,
- VectorSerialier
- ParameterSerializer,
- Base64Serializer

work internally? I just want to be sure I have
understood the code correctly...

What is the reason for having a Base64Serializer?
Practical Example?

When do I need the ParameterSerializer?

Do I need the VectorSerializer or does SOAP uses this
automatically?
