[jira] [Resolved] (INFRA-11416) backup performance testing

Chris Lambertus resolved INFRA-11416.
-------------------------------------
    Resolution: Fixed

Migrating from zmanda on an AWS instance to a VM in the Illiad (France) data center caused a reduction in backup performance down to around 2-3Mbit, which was not sufficient to sustain larger backups of things like svn.

Working with online.net support staff and doing a variety of IO and bandwidth testing, we determined that there were no inherent network or machine-level problems which would explain the 3Mbit performance .

After opening a case with Zmanda and trying a number of test scenarios, I ultimately switched the backup from the bsdtcp (xinetd) transport to an ssh-based transport, which has completely resolved the performance issue.

> Migration of backups from abi->bai (illiad) was completed, but migration of zmanda from AWS to bai has been plagued with performance problems.
