As it happens, I was also annoyed that ContentAggregator gives to downstream
transform no chance to deal with exceptions in its parts.
I fixed up the ContentAggregator for our site to catch exceptions and forward
them as SAX events. This is more general and also works for resources other
the just files.
You may therefore consider to use my patch instead of Frank's.
