minOccurs="0" required

I'm using a POJO web service (axis2 1.6.1), I have an argument to my
service defined in the WSDL returned as...

<xs:element minOccurs="0" name="examRequestID" type="xs:long"/>

And I get an exception if I don't pass it as an argument. Is this a
bug?  It seems similar to
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AXIS2-4541, but that bug says the
fix is 1.6.0, but it doesn't appear to be fixed in 1.6.1

In fact this is an issue in Schema generation for primitive types, Axis2
should not generate neither minOccurs="0" nor nillable="true" it should
generate minOccurs="1" and minOccurs="false". This will be fixed in both
1.6.3 and 1.7.0 versions.

You can achieve such behavior when you use contract first approach and have
lot of control on messages but this not applicable for default POJO
deployment.

Thanks !

Re: minOccurs="0" required

Posted by "Trenton D. Adams" <tr...@athabascau.ca>.
Thanks Sagara.

Will they still be nillable?

Do you think this will be fixed for 1.6.2?

On a side note, what is the default response if a require parameter is
not given? Is there simply a soap fault with a fault description
indicating a missing parameter?

Thanks.

Re: minOccurs="0" required

Posted by Sagara Gunathunga <sa...@gmail.com>.
 This is a bug and will be fixed soon. Axis2 should not generate
minOccurs="0" for Java primitives, for primitives is should be always
minOccurs="1"
 please refer [1].

Oh, I should have given you my bash script to make this easy.

Run it like this...
exam-service/update-exam/update-status.sh --studentid 1 --invigilatorid
1 --inventoryid 1 --requeststatus ASSIGNED --requeststatusdate
2012-01-01T01:01:01 --useridwhoupdated me

I extracted it from my main maven project, and removed the "code" in it,
and it still exhibits the same behaviour. "mvn install" will generate
the aar file, and it appears identical to the way it appears when it's
included in another maven project as a sub-module. So, it appears to be
functional for you.

Hopefully this comes through. :D

Thanks.
