[jira] [Created] (INFRA-8886) Discontinue erlang@couchdb.apache.org

Robert Kowalski created INFRA-8886:
--------------------------------------

             Summary: Discontinue erlang@couchdb.apache.org
                 Key: INFRA-8886
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-8886
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Mailing Lists
            Reporter: Robert Kowalski

Hi Infra,

last month Paul Davis suggested to discontinue the erlang list for couchdb. One reason is that there are a lot of spam requests compared to almost no real posts (see also http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/couchdb-dev/201411.mbox/%3CCAJ_m3YABGc+5Hm+SgDHhLEP4zxiB9BgEp9c_GW1uj1gGOq5h6g@mail.gmail.com%3E)

Today I removed the Erlang mailinglist from the list of our available mailing lists on http://couchdb.apache.org/ (http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/couchdb/site/index.html?r1=1640115&r2=1646109&pathrev=1646109&diff_format=h) so no new people sign up.

Log from #couchdb-dev today:

23:28:32 <+robertkowalski> btw i still have this svn diff on my disk: https://gist.github.com/robertkowalski/0b8b15f831f9dcfa9af7
23:28:52 <+robertkowalski> davisp started a thread some weeks ago regarding the deprecation of the erlang list
23:29:34 <+robertkowalski> i would need a review to take the link offline which would be the first step before writing a ticket to
infra that we want to turn off the power for that list
23:29:43 <+davisp> erlang/spam-only list
23:29:53 <+Kxepal> robertkowalski: iirc we'd already agreed on this

We discussed that writing a ticket to you that we don't want to keep that mailing list would be the next step, please let me know if there are further steps needed.
