How to get Properties from within XSP?

I have a singleton that I would like to configure via a properties file.
At first thought, I could point to it from within cocoon.properties.  But,
how can I get this resource?  I looked at the source for XSP and it doesn't
hold on to the Configurations object.  How can I get it or is there a better
way?
