Apache footers not configurable using ServerTokens Directive

Summary: Apache footers not configurable using ServerTokens
                    Directive
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.26
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Minor
          Priority: Other
         Component: core
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: trisk@earthling.net

The ServerTokens Directive only affects HTTP headers, and not the footers that appear on Apache-generated pages, such as directory listings. The only options that the ServerSignature Directive take, do not allow one to turn off the version number. This is hard-coded into server/core.c, around this part here: return apr_pstrcat(r->pool, prefix, "<address>" AP_SERVER_BASEVERSION " Server at ", ap_get_server_name(r), " Port ", sport, It seems to me that hiding the version number of Apache, while still providing the useful header and e-mail address is important. Any time there is a vulnerability or exploit found in a particular version of a web server, that is vital information to a cracker. Anyhow, thank you for a great web server ! Good day, - raven morris
