Hive Authorization infrastructure

Looking at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-78 it seems like hive still lacks authorization and authentication infrastructure. I am wondering how people are using hive in production. We are planning to use separate mysql dbs for achieving an isolated CLI environment for each group of users, which seems not practical.

Any input/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ankita
