Output file fragmentation

Hi,

I'm interested in developing an application based on Xalan-C that in
addition to translating the XML source file to an HTML output file, will
fragment the output file into several fragments. Each of the fragments
should be well formed (that is, opening and closing all relevant tags). The
criteria for fragmentation should be the maximal size for each fragment.
Does anyone have a clue whether or not writing Xalan extensions could be
useful for this situation?
