Content-Length with mod_deflate and mod_jk (and mod_jk2)

How do I get the Content-Length to be returned with using mod_jk and
mod_deflate?  Using mod_proxy and mod_deflate this was not a problem.
However, I need to use the jk/jk2 connector for various other reasons
but I also need the content-length returned to the client.

I am running Apache 2.0.42 and Tomcat 4.1.12.  Any suggestions would be
helpful
