How to flush a document?

Hi,


  I'm working with threads. In some threads I write a DOMDocument to a file. Sometimes after killing a thread, the file in disk has not been written yet and the file stays with 0 bytes size. Is there any procedure to flush the document to disk, that I can call before killing the thread?
