Xerces and Visual Age 3.5

I can see that this problem has been posted before but no one seemed to
resolve it at that time?
 
I have recently installed VisualAge for Java (including patch 2 from ibm
website). I am trying to import the xerces.jar packages into a project but
it always ends with a log window stating that exceptions occured and the
classes that did load seem to be in-complete.
 
Please help if you can,
