I was trying to send the test results of pre-commit build to corresponding Jira (like hadoopqa comments on jira) to complete this task. While trying this I came across one of the features of Jira which lets you add multiple git repositories related to the project. Advantages of integrating Jira with github repo:
1. You can see all git commits in detail (like diff in files, branch, tag) related to that task on Jira UI itself.
2. It lets you enable smart commits feature, developer can mention a comment on Jira, change the progress status of the Jira and log hours to Jira while committing git code through command line without even logging into Jira ui. This can save developers time and keep the issues up-to-date.
3. Whoever is watching jira issue gets notified whenever there is new commit in git.

We also need Administrative permissions to enable this feature. I can start a thread in dev-mailing list and [~elserj] can help us achieve this.
