ExceptionHandler should store Exception for use by error pages
Summary: ExceptionHandler should store Exception for use by error
pages
Product: Struts
Version: Nightly Build
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: Other
Component: Utilities
AssignedTo: struts-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: kevin@henrikson.com
The Struts Exception handling via struts-config allows mapping of global
Exceptions. Certian cases for debugging and troubleshooting are made much
easier if we can redirect some Exceptions to an error page and display a stack
trace. Unfortunally there is no way to get at the actual Exception in the
current framework unless we write a custom ExceptionHandler. Having the
default ExceptionHandler store the actual Exception in Action.EXCEPTION_KEY
(Globals.EXCEPTION_KEY) in the request scope would solve this problem and be
consistant with the Struts taglibs.
