Connecting to a database

I am using Forrest Framework. How can I query a database? Is this a Cocoon
problem or a Forrest problem?

Forrest is a documentation tool that uses the Cocooon framework.  Things
like database access are straight Cocoon, so should be asked about on the
cocoon-users list.
