[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-14660) Migrating HDFS into a module

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14660?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17479702#comment-17479702 ]

David Smiley commented on SOLR-14660:
-------------------------------------

Yeah; we essentially agreed on what I said in my previous comment; first paragraph.  However, I believe the decision to not release it is based on the belief that it's not ready.  I think that may prove premature, as just today [~krisden] fixed the broken 9.0 compatibility and thus the tests pass (on main) - SOLR-15405.  I don't think we should file follow-up issues until it's more clear what's actually going to land in 9.0.  It's great to see Kevin engaging on the PR.

> Following up on the deprecation of HDFS (SOLR-14021), we need to work on isolating it away from Solr core and making a package for this. This issue is to track the efforts for that.
