Here's an example of setting the metadata (but for a NominalAttribute): [https://github.com/apache/spark/blob/3bee0f1466ddd69f26e95297b5e0d2398b6c6268/mllib/src/main/scala/org/apache/spark/ml/feature/StringIndexer.scala#L135]

MinMaxScaler should actually use a NumericAttribute, setting its relevant fields.
