compile failes with jdk 1.5 due to "enum"

Summary: compile failes with jdk 1.5 due to "enum"
           Product: Commons
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Blocker
          Priority: Other
         Component: Collections
        AssignedTo: commons-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: georgmueller@gmx.net

enum is a keyword in jdk 1.5
so a lot off commons (not only collections) did not compile.
A lot of variables have the name enum.
Could this be changed, please.
