Configuring MyFaces on JBoss

I have the latest and greatest from JBoss, MyFaces and Tomahawk.

If I place the MyFaces jar files in the [app]/WEB-INF/lib directory of an exploded war directory,
it doesn't work.  If I place the MyFaces jar files in /usr/lib/jboss-4-0-4-CR2/server/all/lib, it
works.

If I place the Tomahawk jar file in /usr/lib/jboss-4-0-4-CR2/server/all/lib, it doesn't work.  If
I place the Tomahawk jar in the [app]/WEB-INF/lib directory of an exploded war directory, it
works.

I am happy that it works, but I am a little confused.

Any explanations?
