session:page counterpart to client:page property persistence?

I'm finding client:page to be great for (external) pages which expect
parameters (ex: a project page that needs a project id and checks that a
corresponding project actually exists and the current user has
permission to view it). Is there a session analog (ex: search result
sorting/paging)?
