[ANNOUNCEMENT] Commons Daemon 1.6.0 Released
The Apache Commons Team is pleased to announce the availability of
Apache Commons Daemon 1.6.0
The Apache Commons Daemon software library provides a generic Daemon
(unix) or Service (Windows) wrapper for Java code.
Version 1.6.0 adds support for running the procrun binaries for Windows
on ARM64 hardware as well as a handful of bugs fixes.

Source and binary distributions are available for download from the
Apache Commons download site:
https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-daemon/download_daemon.cgi

There is yet another small problem with the release. commons-daemon-1.6.0-native-src.tar.gz is not logically equal to 1.5.1. 'autoreconf -fi' has no been run which means that you cannot run ./configure and without the whole GNU autotools env one cannot compile:

Are you certain? Neither from my private phone nor from company intranet do I see it:

Yep, that's what I had to do as well.
Don't forget to delete 1.5.1 from
https://downloads.apache.org/commons/daemon/source/

Something is still not right between archive and latest dist.
Tomcat Native archive [1] contains old and the current release while Commons Daemon archive [2] only have past releases. I don't fully remember the policy, but either one is a problem. From downstream consumer (a.k.a package maintainer) this is a problem. I prefer the former, of course.
What am I missing here?
