[Bug 3012] New: Can't run spamd as non-root install
http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3012
Summary: Can't run spamd as non-root install
Product: Spamassassin
Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: spamc/spamd
AssignedTo: spamassassin-dev@incubator.apache.org
ReportedBy: matt@nightrealms.com
I have the SpamAssassin files installed in my home directory tree, and use
it just for myself, but I use spamd/spamc to keep from having to waste CPU
cycles restarting spamassassin once for each message. This was working for the
dev verrsion of SA checked out against the date 2004/01/18, but for
2004/02/05, it kept failing when I tried to daemonize spamd (like usual), but
worked fine if I didn't daemonize it. Using strace, I saw that it couldn't
find the libraries, even after setting the PERL5LIB env var to the appropriate
value (at least, I think it was appropriate).
To get it to work, I had to softlink /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1/Mail
to $SA_HOME/lib/Mail
