I have the same problem with my application, but only in certain circumstances :

 - Multi-threaded environnement
 - Multi-processing environnement
 - heavy load (thousands of DOM traversing per seconds, on the same Node object)

I did all of my tests on Linux only, with SUN JDK 1.4.2_01 JVM, with Xerces 2.3,
2.4 or 2.6.2
