Commons Sandbox Pipeline

Hi,

I just came across the pipeline project in the commons sandbox.
http://commons.apache.org/sandbox/pipeline/

I didn't have a deeper look at it, but at least they are defining a 
pipeline api. So it might be worth to have a look at it and see if we 
could use that instead of defining or own.
