I will be giving a presentation about Jakarta POI at the O'Reilly Open
Source conference on July 27th in Portland Oregon

"Working with Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets and Microsoft Access
Databases in a Java Application"

Track: Java
Date: Thursday, July 27
Time: 2:35pm - 3:20pm

In large corporations, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access continue to
be popular productivity tools. In these corporate environments, IT
developers are often asked to build Java applications that can read data
from Excel spreadsheet files and Access databases. This session will
examine two open source solutions: Jakarta POI and Jackcess. Jakarta POI
is a pure Java library for reading and writing Excel XLS files; the
Jackcess project is a pure Java library for reading and writing Access
MDB files.

We'll discuss how to use the libraries in both desktop applications and
server-side applications. By attending this session, you will learn how
to incorporate POI and Jackcess into your applications and how to avoid
common pitfalls.

Regards,

Sean
